TWC receives NB Environmental Leadership Award

On September 30th Sarah Sutherland and Kendra Milton travelled to Fredericton to accept the Department of the Environment’s Environmental Leadership Award on behalf of the more than 100 Tantramar High School students who volunteer their time at TWC to teach visitors about the importance of wetlands. These Wetheads and the enthusiasm they bring are what make this project unique and very special.

Permanent exhibit: Dyking on the Tantramar-375 years of history

As part of the Town of Sackville’s “Celebrate our Culture: 1604-2004″ ceremonies, The Tantramar Wetlands Centre invited the public to participate in its unveiling of a permanent exhibit entitled Dyking on the Tantramar–325 Years of History on August 12, 2004.

Located within the Centre’s wetlab facility, this unique display interprets through illustrations and artifacts the rich dyking history of the area. Featuring the work of artist Robert Lyon and contributions from several private family collections this exhibit has been designed specifically to compliment the Centre’s award-winning wetlands education programs. For viewing information contact the Centre at 506-364-4257.

Training Day 2004

Staff from several environmental organizations in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia traveled to Sackville to join 75 Wetheads during their annual training day at TWC. This special day is dedicated each year to gearing up for the very busy spring programming season at the Centre that includes close to 2000 grade four visitors alone who are sponsored through Ducks Unlimited’s Adopt-A-Class Program. This year’s training session was modeled after the popular TV series Survivor and was huge hit with the participants.
